The demon haunting the couple is….money! Paranormal activity is not real footage, rather made to LOOK real. Kinda like The Blair Witch Project, you know?
IF it WERE real, I personally would classify it as a “spirit” entity with poltergeist activity. “Ghosts” and “Phantoms” are generally hollow creatures, empty and void of emotion and do little, if any, to interact with the world around them. They just sort of phase in and out of our world, being stuck between them, or simply as travelers.
Spirits are much more interactive, and often show themselves. Some are helpful, some are mischevious, and others are just downright ugly and evil, they are lost in a world which changes but never dies, and it twists their minds to the point it’s reflected in their physical image. (seeing a ghost is sort of residual imagry). The ugly ones tend to move objects, or throw them, slam doors, hide your car keys, plug in toasters as you’re working on them, whatever. Some can go as far as to physically injure you, pushing, slapping, hitting…and some can only drain your energy psychicly. Depends on the classification.
So IF it were a real movie, Id say spirit entity with psi/poltergeist acticity.
The spirit is, as I said, the “soul” and attached memory of a once living person
The Poltergeist, is the type of activity. Objects being moved, thrown, slammed, and people being pushed, shoved, hair pulled, what have you. Many people who come to us with poltergeist activity have claimedto hear noises as well, footsteps, breathing, grunting, scratching, screaming, and occasionally talking. Voices are a seperate phenomena, and fall between a “intelligent” and “residual” level. But poltergeist is more commonly low-intellect noises. Grunts, whines, crys, screams, labored breathing.
IF it were a demon…I dunno. But it’s deffinetly a low-level demon. Depending on your faith, demons are either non-exsistant, the devils handimen, or they’re just the denziens of hell! Some believe demons have “classes” and “tiers” to them, being a military-run army of hell but since I’ve never had the chance to interveiw on, I cant verify that. Even so, it’s reported that no demon has ever ever told the truth outside a few rare possibilities.
But givin how long it took the damned demon to kill that stupid guy and his stubborn girlfriend (lets face it…who puts up with his crap for that long??) I’d say it’d be a low level demon, one feeding off of their fear, a psychic-vampire, and ultimately, used their own mental energy (emotion, fear, anxiety)against them.
As a general rule, spirits don’t possess, demons do, according to lore. That being said, the entity attached to young Katie was in fact a demon as it finally possessed her, made her voice change, and engage in activity abnormal for her, i.e; night walks, murder, etc.
I doubt we’ll ever know the answer.
It’s bound to take it’s place along side these other great mysteries.

Well, I think you should be asking the special effects people who made the demon possible through movie magic. I think its pointless to try to relate a fictional demon to the real world.
It’s a fictional movie so the kind of demon would be a fictional kind of demon.

i believe in demons because i’ve got rid of one like an exercist!!!!!!!!!!!
Whether the movie is real or not, only the people who has encountered such experiences can relate to it. As an ex-member of an exorcism team, I have heard stories quite closely related to what I saw in the movie. The do’s and don’ts in this movie follows the same methodologies in an exorcism. (i.e; do not play with ouija board when there is an encounter, or to provoke the spirits when one does not have any faith higher than faith in oneself or to try and proof it’s existence with a camera.) The more famous demons that I have personally seen in an exorcism is usually the ‘NAGA” where it’s victims always squirms like a serpent , eyes rolled up and speaks in foreign tongues. Sometimes, there more than one or too many when they are called the ‘LEGION’. I once felt threatened by them like the psychic did and due to my lack of faith and strength, I left the exorcism practise. But demons for one, don’t always look scary or evil, they are fallen angels made in the images of God led by the Archangel Lucifer.
In the movie they gave thanks to the actors and their families and also the San Diego police dept. My question is what part did the police play in the making of this movie? I could not see a connection to the police involvement what so ever in the movie, so why would they be giving credit unless it was about a real incident? where times,names and dates were changed? Something to think about.
