I see nothing paranormal about either, but I know someone who thinks these suggest the presence of ghosts. Please explain this to me.

Well, I can’t say about the EMF readings, but my personal experience suggests that cold spots possibly (note that I said possibly) could indicate the presence of an entity.
Years ago, my ex and I were in our apartment livingroom watching TV. I just had this feeling that I should look toward the hallway. When I did, I saw this “thing”. My ex also saw it. The details are too long to repeat here, but you can read my response at:http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;…
Where the thing had been, there was a trail of ice-cold air. There were no drafts, and the temperature of the rest of the apartment was approximately 80 degrees. It was only icy in the direct path the thing took down the hallway and into the middle of our bedroom. You could literally move your hand back and forth in the air and feel where it had been.
Good question. Cold spots do occur naturally. One assumption is that the ghosts use the heat energy in the air to manifest themselves in a way that we can perceive (so that we can see and/or hear them). This assumption is purely theoretical though.
its called anomoly hunting, people with a preconcieved world view, confronted with a conflicting evidence(in this case no direct evidence for ghosts) will look for strange things and justify them as being evidence of ghosts, not because there’s any testable causation, but simply because their strange and seem to happen in the same places that ghosts reports happen, this is confusing correlation with causation because EMF reading can result from wiring inside walls, and cold spots from spotty insulation.
here’s some more information on the subject http://skeptoid.com/episodes/4081
Electro magnetic feild tester (EMF) When a spirit manifests itself it draws the energy out of the air and any battery powered electronics near by and it forms a magnetic feild the emf will pick up this feild readings 3.0 and higher that can not be explained otherwise are believe to be a ghost. Now the enrgy is pulled out of the air it will leave a cold spot in that area and if you take a picture in either of those areas sometime you may see something trying to take shape ,but not always.
Why of course, these things mean there is a ghost there. Based on scientific evidence that ghosts cause cold spots and high emf readings. —- thats a joke
lol, how else are paranormal investigators going to make it look like they are finding stuff? They have to make up stuff that sounds scientific and that most of the general public has no clue about. Same thing with orbs.
High EMF readings can cause a feeling of being watched or presence – so if they are found on a routine sweep, it will explain why people feel spooked in that area.
Cold spots are said to be felt by people indicating a spirit is there.
What I believe, is that spirits can exist in a diverse energy field that exists in many wavelenghts. This will show up as a disturbance in the magnetic spectrum (EMF) – and therefore lead to recordings on equipment using a wired microphone,- not by sound – but by generating a small eclectrical current in the microphone wires.
Cold can be defined as an absence of Infra red heat, and as it is also a form of available energy, it seems that this energy can be used to be changed into the visible spectrum – to produce a manefestation.
I have felt cold spots particularly in relation to areas that someone died. I cannot explain it fully, but has been confirmed by research.
